Rob has delivered his Needs Focused Behaviour Management course on our Secondary PGCE at the University of Hull for three years now and each year my trainees have not only found him to be inspirational, but they have learnt much about managing both the learning environment and young people effectively.  Rob's course is based on the value of building relationships, but trainees can  emulate Rob since he models to the highest degree how to behave as a teacher.  The course is fun, well constructed and as the title suggests, very focused on positive strategies.  This year Rob led the course with the Yorkshire Teach First trainees at their summer Institute in Sheffield.  Their overwhelmingly positive response led to an immediate booking for 2010.  Rob is a personal inspiration, but experienced, effective teachers will recognise the veracity of his approach."

Turning a FUN lesson into a SUCCESSFUL lesson
Kids love to have fun. They NEED fun - in all its forms - they need fun lessons. They need adventure, colour, variety, intrigue discovery, excitement, interaction, humour. If we don't provide fun, the pupils will set about finding their own fun - throwing things around, walking around the room to bother each other, making fun of the teacher etc. etc. You've seen it all before.
Having really engaging, fun lesson activities for them to do prevents this behaviour to a certain extent but it is only part of the story.  Read More
